Diary of Events as NIEA Responds
DAY 22              8-September
The FEBA radio station informed us that they are planning on coming to Purnia to consider broadcasting issues of Public Health interest. Their travel suitcase it appears has the equipment to produce, edit and broadcast straight from a disaster zone. This is an excellent addition to our current outreaches to the needy community.
Medical Team has traveled to an interior refugee camp where 3000 are camping. There is no medical treatment available. Organizers of the camp have requested that the NIEA Team plans a two day medical outreach to the most needy here.
The government declares that Measles and Japanese encephalitis has started in some camps. Food is reaching the camps but medical aid is scarce.A small child less than a year old, placed her hand in boiling oil. Her right palm and below are burnt. For four days there has been no treatment. She is running a fever and is listless. Asha, the little
girl and her entire family of four siblings and parents are brought to Agape village for further medical care and treatment.
* Pray that God's name be exalted. The medical camps, the reliefpackets and the relief camp are all in full swing. A dedicated team of volunteers and associates are working round the clock to meet the needs of several hundred victims.
* Pray that by being with the helpless and needy, the love of Christ would be demonstrated and people would be blessed in their knowledge of Jesus Christ.

DAY 19  6-September
The relief packets are being packed. By noon today we will be in a position to start sending out relief packets worth US$ 30 each. In them are twenty items ranging from food, household vessels, personal hygiene articles etc.
205 people are registered at the NIEA Relief Camp. Of these 72 are children, 17 are infants, and there are a total of 10 pregnant ladies most of them in late months of pregnancy.
The medical team examined and treated all sick at the make-shift refugee camp today and provided medical aid for all pregnant women.
The work towards the establishment of the permanent Relief Camp is almost complete with the kitchen and two housing units ready for use.
Toilets are in place, 3 hand pumps are down with two more to be inserted tomorrow. This evening all 205 plus those who come to us today will move there.
A new tent to assist in the storage, packing and dispatching of materials is being set up.
* Pray for the teams as they coordinate multiple efforts on three
levels. Pray for stamina, wisdom and spiritual grace as each
carries out their heavy responsibilities in the wake of thisurgent need.
* Pray as more medical supplies are on the way, that they reach here on time so that the work will continue unhindered.
