Diary of Events as NIEA Responds DAY 31 & 32 17, 18 -September 'Thank you very much for bringing the materials for us. This is the first time anyone has reached us." With tears in their eyes villagers of Narpatganj, acknowledged the efforts taken by Suresh Yadav and his team to be the first ever group to bring relief to their flood affected village. Suresh provided the needy villagers with 200 of the relief packages that had supplies to provide for a family for at least a week. NIEA medical team partnered with the administrators of SOS Children's village where over 200 children and adults are camped. All sick patients were treated and cared for. The medical team has been doing back to back medical camps for nearly 15 days now and have treated hundreds of patients -the majority of whom had no access to medical care and where desperate for medical aid. The 1000th packet of relief supplies is ready to distribution and will roll out tomorrow. The relief camp has the 8th and 9th housing unit up and ready. By the weekend there will be more than 350 in our camp. * Pray additional manpower to assist with the ongoing efforts of the Agape Village, Relief Packaging and also Distribution of Packets to distant locations. * Pray for wisdom regarding a strategy for long term rehabilitation of the people in the camp. Getting their lives make on their feet is a new matter altogether and many of them are actually quite at a loss to even start contemplating the reality of such a move. |
